Help put me on YouTube!

As you read the title, you are wondering "What the Heck?"

This post is a rant, and a request for help.

This weekend, I heard about two families that are close to my heart that have been given the devastating diagnosis of cancer.

More members to that Club that none of us wants to belong to.

As you read this, think of the people you know whose family have had their entire world turned upside down by cancer.

Personally, I have watched my husband, one of my brothers, my best friend, my favorite auntie, and many family members of close friends walk down this frightening road.

One family member has just had the diagnosis this past week. She is waiting to find out what the treatment will be.

A friend is having tests done, and we are sitting on pins and needles hoping everything will be ok.

Another friend just found out her mom has cancer.

There are many fundraisers out there for the BC Cancer Foundation, and I have attended some of them, and donated my time, my creativity and my money.

One person can make a difference.

I can be that person.

I may not be able to accomplish what Terry Fox did - that's not a reason to not do something.

This weekend, I have made the decision to create my own fundraiser.

Here's what I am going to do -

I would like to raise $1000.00 for the BC Cancer Foundation by July 30th.

I am going to have my head shaved if I reach my goal - AND I will post the head shave on YouTube.

The way I am going to do this, is by asking people to sponsor me. I have already had a very generous donation of $75.00, and that was an immediate response to my post on facebook this afternoon.

I am lucky, I will be losing my hair by my own choice. Heck, I may even leave it grey when it grows back in - it's just not important.

What is important, is showing the people I love and care about that there is something that I can do, something that will help.

Will you sponsor me?

  9. Hi Sue,
I know your fundraising through Kathy whom I've known not long ago in the scrapbooking cyberspace. Your determination move me.

My mom was diagnosed a rare blood cancer back in 2004. After having battled with this horrible disease for 5 years, she passed away peacefully one year ago. I walked down that "C" path with her everyday until the very last moment. Her spirit inspires me everyday.

I'm more than willing to help you to reach your fundraising goal. My little online scrapbooking store (Tiny Seed Scrapbooking) was just officially open, and I'm planning to donate one-day sale to your fundraising. Making donation to BC Cancer Foundation and Children's Hopspital Foundation annually will be Tiny Seed's tradition. This is my un-told primary intention of setting up the store.

    Let's keep in touch.

    hugs,Yolanda
